I have learnt that along with experiences comes maturity, and life challenges and successes have taught me many lessons of which I feel obliged to share with other young Bahamain women. My Short term goal is to become the next Miss Bahamas Universe. I believe this all goes well with my desire of becoming an Actress. I love the stage and theatre and hope to make a great impact in the film industry.

Interview with Karlisha Mckenzie
WHY DID YOU JOIN THE MISS BAHAMAS UNIVERSE COMPETITION?
To become a positive influence in the lives of young Bahamian women, and help them to achieve excllence in all areas of human development. I truly feel that I repersent the full status of a Bahamian woman and what her country stands for.

IF YOU WERE TO BECOME MISS BAHAMAS 2009, WHAT WOULD BE THE FIRST THING THAT YOU WOULD DO?
If I was to become the next Miss Bahamas the first thing I would do is "cry my eyes out"! (lol)Then smile and walk with proud dignity repersenting my country to the fullest.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE OR UNUSUAL THING THAT HAS HAPPEN TO YOU IN YOUR LIFE?
About four years ago I was going through a very stressful period in my life. During those stressful days I would pray to God and ask him to free me! One night I went to bed and dreamth that I was flying with a man I could'nt see but heard his voice. His voice was heavy and strong, (the whole world could have heard him).  We landed on a dusty road and ended up in a forest filled with snakes and dead boddies (for some strange reason I was not scard). As we walk he then said to me, "So many persons have walked through her before and never made it out"! I Knew it was God. After that dream I was free and my stressful days was over.

DO YOU THINK THE SWIMSUIT CONTEST AT BEAUTY PAGEANTS DEGRADES WOMEN?
No! I don't think it does. The swimsuit contest repersents strength, confidence, and fitness in the contestants! This part of the competition is done in a tasteful, sificated way. It also adds a sassy edge for the views.

GIVE AN IDEA OF WHAT YOUR NATIONAL COSTUME WILL BE AND WHAT DOES IT REPRESENTS?
I'll keep that as a suprise lol! but I will say it's very unique.

WHAT ARE THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO AS MISS BAHAMAS 2009?
The three most important things I would like to do as Miss Bahamas: Creat more commercials adds to entice tourist to come visit the Bahamas, I think the Bahamas is not being advertised  enough. I feel that this would increase the rate of tourism. I would also creat a safe sex campainge for youths 18 years and over and become a positive role model to young people and show them that the sky is the limit. Anything is possible with faith, hard work and confidence.

IF YOU HAD TO RESIDE ON ONE OTHE FAMILY ISLANDS IN THE BAHAMAS, WHICH WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
The family island that I choose would be Exuma. Why because Most of my family history lies in Exuma. The people there are so humble and comforting it makes you feel welcome and at ease, not failing to mention the traditional family reggatta that is held every year is very exciting.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR AND WHY?
My favorite color is black. Why because it compliments my complextion, it makes me feel as if I can concour the world and it brings out a unique aura thats hidden inside me.

TELL VIEWERS A LITTLE ABOUT THE BAHAMAS AND WHY YOU LOVE IT SO!
The bahamas is made up of 700 islands that is surrounded by water. These islands is known for it's beautiful beaches, humble people and a tourism destination. Some of the most outstanding things I love about my country would be our sun, sand and sea; our scrumptious Bahamian dishes such as crab and rice, stew fish, conch fritters, and our infamous conch salad. junkanoo plays a very important role in the development of our culture. This parade is held every year.
